As oxygen sensor a Bosch lambda probe LSM 11 is used. This type is very durable, reliable, versatile and owing to regulated voltage supply extraordinarily long-lived. The sensitive measuring circuit of the BurnerMax is galvanically separated and thus well suited for heavy duty industrial environment.
For simple assembly, the sensor is supplied with a weld-in socket. For the temperature measurement a thermocouple type K is used, also galvanically separated. Weld-in socket and temperature compensation cables are provided.
Heart of the BurnerMax is an ATMEL- Mikrocontroller with internal watchdog, 64 kB program and 256 kB data memory. For local monitoring and operation the BurnerMax is equipped with status indicators, keypad and a 16 digit display. The internal software offers all functions, which are necessary for the configuration and the operation of the BurnerMax as measuring instrument and combustion controller.

A serial interface is integrated. It can operate as RS232 for short distances or as RS485. Using RS485 allows distances up to 1000m, up to 32 BurnerMax are able to communicate over twisted pair cable with a personal computer. An additional Windows software can be used for online trending, processing history data and for configuration purpose.
There are 2 relays onboard to interact with the common burner control. BurnerMax is equipped with analouge inputs and outputs, 0-20mA or 4-20mA, both galvanically separated. An alarm relay can bridge the controller in case of a major malfunction.
