CyDesign - The Power of Cyclones

Some engineers consider cyclone technology for the separation of particles from fluid as an outdated technology. But in reality it is still today the most widespread method to produce clean gases. Cyclones protect helicopter turbines from the damaging effects of dessert sandstorms, they make it possible that gas turbines are fired with gases from coal combustion at 850 °C, and the separation and concentration of high value minerals such as gold is only possible with the application of high efficiency cyclones.
But also less stringent tasks, such as the removal of sparks with an inline axial grid arrestor cyclone in biomass combustion plant to protect downstream equipment or the separation of coarse material in processing plant are mastered by cyclones in a cost effective way with minimal capital cost and maintenance free operation.

Nowadays we can even find domestic vacuum cleaners utilizing cyclone technology to do away with filter bags and so contribute to the reduction of waste paper.

But the performance of a cyclone, being a fluid dynamic machine is only as good as the design, the manufacturing quality and the installation of such plant. Often cyclones are produces in unsuitable workshops, wrongly designed and so do not yield the expected results, which with proper application of this technology can be surprisingly good.
We at the CyDesign team have made it our highest aim to provide know how for the development, design, proper manufacturing, installation and operation of high efficiency cyclones and so ensure that this technology is used in the right way to ensure always that best performance. is achieved.
